From the Asylum to the Park: 70 Years of History
The Museum of Images from the Unconscious reopened its doors in September 2022, with one of its attractions being the unprecedented exhibition From Asylum to Park: 70 years of history, a tour of the transformation process that the space of the former Pedro II Psychiatric Center underwent over time, until it became the current Nise da Silveira Municipal Park – a project currently underway, which aims to implement a large leisure and cultural center for the population of Rio de Janeiro in the North Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
Occupation Nise da Silveira
The Ocupação Nise da Silveira exhibition was initially presented at Itaú Cultural, in São Paulo. The exhibition offers an in-depth look at the life and work of the psychiatrist who stood out as one of the leading Brazilian scientists. With audiovisual and sound recordings, works from the Museum’s collection, as well as documents from the psychiatrist’s personal archive, the exhibition invites the public to discover a work structured on affection and unrestricted respect for human beings.

Visits to the Museum’s galleries were interrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And so, the idea of holding the institution’s first virtual exhibition, 3 Artists from Engenho de Dentro, was born, a selection of works not yet known to the general public.
