Lucio Noeman

Lúcio was born in 1915. He had little formal training, but was gifted with great skills, producing woodworks that his family found remarkable. He never studied drawing or modeling.
In 1948 he started frequenting the museum’s studios and chose the sculpture studio. He visibly enjoyed the work and spent hours on end absorbed in the activity. He produced works of striking artistic quality, most of them depicting, according to him, warriors engaged in a battle between good and evil.
In 1949, he took part in the exhibition 9 Artistas de Engenho de Dentro (9 Artists from Engenho de Dentro) at the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo – MAM SP.
